My name is Zach Moran and I'm soon to graduate from Birmingham City University with a degree in English and Journalism.
Since turning 18 back in 2006, my entire working life has been spent in the hospitality sector. It was never something I planned on doing long term, but following my first stint as a barman in my local pub I discovered I had something of a flair within the industry. Now, twelve years on, I've gone on to work every imaginable role possible- everything from being a waiter, a host, a chef, to running restaurants as a manager. I've even been lucky enough to work some of these roles in other countries, such as Austria and Australia.
But around five years ago, I decided I wanted to branch out from my comfort zone and find a career I truly wanted to work in as opposed to one I was simply content with.
I've always loved to write, but given my career path up until that moment, my writing had been limited to corporate e-mails and responding to customer queries and complaints. I knew that studying a degree in journalism would be a fantastic way to further my abilities, but up until that moment in time I'd never undertaken higher education outside of college. This meant I had a bit of catching up to do.
I started by attending night classes to retake my maths GCSE, before going back to college as mature student and earning myself an Access to Higher Education diploma. Finally, I find myself at the end of my third year at university. It has been a huge undertaking and one which has involved sacrifice and dedication- but the skills and lessons learned have been well worth the personal odyssey.
During my time at university, I have developed and honed my writing and journalistic abilities and this has been notable in the instances in which I have created content for two external media outlets; Camberwell Studios and Epik Musik Videos. I have penned several articles for the recording studios, and though not the food and lifestyle content I hope to create in future, the experience I have gained has been invaluable to my understanding of the professional working environments I hope to work within the near future.
I have included a link to my personal website above, where you can read some of the content I have created in recent times, as well as multiple links to my social media platforms so you are better able to understand the writer behind the screen.
