I'm Olivia Jane Lawlor and I'm currently located in the amazing, diverse city of Birmingham! I'm on the home stretch of my BA Media and Communications degree, graduating in July. Luckily, I didn't need to change courses or worry about getting the wrong degree, I'm pretty happy with what I chose, as I've now developed skills and passions in subjects I truly enjoy!
Since a young age, technology and the power the media has, have always interested me, especially the collaboration between them both. With growing up in the technological age, I've been able to see the rise of technology, the expectations and how to keep up with the fast-paced industry. The power of the media also struck me, and my dreams were initially to be a war corespondent. However, I diverted from that decision and found my passion within coding for web design, journalism and data.
With a particular interest within web design and data journalism, I enjoy putting my skills into projects that are thought provoking, meaningful and have the possibility to implement change. Career-wise and as a pass time, coding, visualisations and designing has become everything I do and I am constantly learning more and more every day!
When I'm not coding and working on other projects, I also enjoy photography, music, binge watching movies and TV series, and reading. Some of my photography work can be found on my website as well as the slideshow gallery on the right hand-side. As for music, if you have a couple of hours to spare I will happily talk about music, as it is one of my passions since I was a little girl. One of my fun facts is that I can play at Grade 5 level on guitar, and used to sing and play at open mics across the West Midlands!
