Hello, my name is Jack Griffin and I am a Media and Communications student at Birmingham City University, due to graduate in July 2020. Alongside this I am also the Station Manager of the universities student radio station Scratch Radio, and have been since September 2019. After graduation, I aim to gain a job within the radio industry as it is something that I have grown to become passionate about throughout my time at university.
Over the past three years, I have undertaken a wide range of radio modules, which include: Radio Station, Radio Documentary and Live Radio, Programming and Production. As well as these, I have also undertaken a wide range of non-radio related modules, which include: Journalism, Popular Music Narratives, and Affect, Emotion and the Media. Outside of university, I am also a sports pundit on the local community radio station Switch Radio. This is a part of their flagship sports show Switch Sport, and I cover the local West Midlands club, Sutton Coldfield Town FC.
For my final major project, I am currently co-producing a podcast series, due to be published on Spotify, which centres around the topic of food and food culture. Examples of some of the topics which are explored in the series include: veganism, indian cuisine and student attitudes towards food.
