COURSE: PR & Media

Pathway:

About:
Hello, I'm Charlie. I am currently studying Media & Communications, specialising in Public Relations and I am due to graduate in July 2020.

During my time studying at Birmingham City University, I have been lucky enough to be able to explore an array of different media industries, including public relations, communications management and social media. Whilst studying these modules I have successfully created detailed PR campaigns and proposals, analysed and formed social media strategies, and constructed and pitched communication plans – all of which have not only provided me with the in-depth knowledge and skills that I will need in my media career after graduation, but also a deep love and passion of the PR world.

As well as completing projects within my studies at university, I have also taken part in various placements and extracurricular activities that have reinforced the skills and knowledge I have attained throughout the course. I helped plan and promote a local charity event in Banbury, raising money for the Movember Foundation. I created and pitched a PR campaign to a local bar, which was then successfully formed into an open-mic night fundraiser for Australian bush fire relief efforts, which was was organised and promoted with help from myself. I am also working on social media content for Variety, the Children's Charity and spearheading the launch of Custodian Group's social media presence as part of my Major Project, Milne PR.

I am currently completing my final year Major Project, which has seen me launch my freelance public relations platform, Milne PR. After my final project and graduation, I want to continue to use this platform to work with local businesses and other potential clients, and fully brand myself as a freelance PR specialist.
