I am a Media and Communications student due to graduate in July 2019, with the ambition to eventually become a video editor for TV Drama or TV Comedy. Above, you'll find some examples of my most recent projects, most of which I have created during my time at university. These include both independent and collaborative group projects. I have over ten years of editing experience, using VEGAS Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. This started out as making comedy shorts with my school friend for YouTube, which I would edit, independently, before progressing to autonomously created videos for YouTube based on or around my favourite TV series, which I continue to produce to this day.
Joining university enabled me to hone my media and technical skills, gaining knowledge in using mainstream production equipment and software, including the Canon C100, Premiere Pro, Audition and Avid Media Composer. In addition, I have also attained valuable experience working both as part of a team on film shoots and independently as a videographer – recently as part of FADE Radio’s two-week broadcast in January – versatile skills which are imperative for a successful career in the TV industry.
Currently, I am working on my final year project: a fan-orientated documentary celebrating 15 years of the revival of Doctor Who (‘’New Who’’), in March 2020, on which I am the Producer and Editor. It will chronicle the history of the show since it relaunched in 2005, including each Doctor and their respective era, with contributions from the fans who grew up it. You can see a short preview of it in my showreel above.
I have enjoyed my experience studying Media to such a degree that I plan to undertake an MA degree in Media Production at BCU later this year in order to advance my knowledge and skills in production and post-production to a level of industry-standard professionalism, and give myself the best chance of procuring the TV production role that I desire.
My other interests including watching TV as a pastime, with a particular passion for watching British comedy, from classics such as Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses and One Foot in the Grave, to more recent examples like Friday Night Dinner and Not Going Out. I also enjoy drama and sci-fi shows such as EastEnders and Doctor Who, the latter of which inspired my love and fascination for editing and post-production and fuelled my lifelong desire to work in TV. I also have an interest in both creative and academic writing, my talent for which has been demonstrated by an array of first-class marks for theory assignments, which I remain immensely proud of.
Also on this profile, you’ll find, in addition to my CV, my LinkedIn profile which details the work experience I have recently attained including videography and presenting roles on FADE Radio, and at events and activities company Buckt who, after being highly impressed with my abilities as an editor, offered me future freelance work producing short promo videos for their social media spaces. You can also explore my YouTube channel that comprises an eclectic range of videos that I have produced over the last few years. On my website, you can find further examples of my TV work, in addition to content produced for YouTube and Radio projects, and testimonials from previous work placements employers.
My passion for videography and editing has only been enhanced by my experiences at university and on various work placements, and I will strive to continue working in and educating myself on an industry and area of production that I continue to enjoy immensely.
